This Privacy Policy explains how Shoeshiner.com collects, uses and protects personal data when you visit shoeshiner.com or contact us.

1. Who is responsible for your data?

Shoeshiner.com, operated by Ali Aydin

2. Personal data we process

  • Contact requests: when you contact us through the contact form, email or telephone, we process the information you provide, such as your name, email address, telephone number, company, service or event details and your message. Required form fields must be completed so that we can respond to your request.
  • Technical and security data: our hosting provider may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, requested pages, date and time, referring page and security or error-log information. This is necessary to deliver, maintain and protect the website.
  • Analytics data: if you consent, Google Analytics 4 may process information about page views, sessions, interactions, approximate location, browser and device characteristics, referring sources and events such as video progress. Google uses the IP address during collection to determine approximate location and states that the address is discarded before it is logged. Individual IP addresses are not available to us.
  • Consent preferences: Complianz and the WP Consent API use necessary technology to remember whether you accepted or rejected optional services.
  • Google Fonts: if you consent to optional external services, your browser may contact Google servers to retrieve font files. This request may disclose technical information such as your IP address and browser information to Google.

The videos displayed on this website are hosted locally on Shoeshiner.com. Watching them does not create a connection with YouTube or Vimeo, although ordinary server-log information may be generated when a video file is requested.

3. Purposes and legal bases

We process personal data for the following purposes and legal bases:

  • Answering service enquiries, preparing quotations and taking requested steps before entering into an agreement: performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps.
  • Handling general business enquiries and operating, maintaining and protecting the website: our legitimate interests in conducting and securing our business.
  • Keeping financial, administrative or other records required by law: compliance with a legal obligation.
  • Using Google Analytics and optional external services such as Google Fonts: your consent.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use website data for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Cookies and privacy choices

Essential technologies may operate without consent where they are required to provide and secure the website or remember your privacy choice.

Google Analytics and Google Fonts are optional. You can select Accept All, Reject Optional or Manage Preferences in the consent banner.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by selecting the Privacy Settings button displayed on the website. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

For further information, see our Cookie Policy (EU).

5. Service providers and recipients

Where necessary, personal data may be processed by:

  • SiteGround, which provides website hosting, server infrastructure, backups and security services;
  • Google and its approved subprocessors when you consent to Google Analytics or Google Fonts;
  • email, technical, legal or administrative service providers where their involvement is necessary; and
  • public authorities where disclosure is required by law.

These providers may only process data as necessary to provide their services or comply with applicable law. We do not disclose visitor data to third parties for their independent advertising purposes.

6. International transfers

Some service providers or their subprocessors may process personal data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used, such as an adequacy decision or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

You may contact us for further information about applicable safeguards. For information about Google’s processing, see the Google Privacy Policy.

7. Retention periods

  • Contact enquiries that do not result in a service agreement are normally deleted within 12 months after the last contact.
  • Customer and service records are kept for as long as necessary to provide the service, handle possible claims and meet legal obligations. Financial administration that must be retained under Dutch tax law is generally kept for seven years.
  • Technical and security logs are retained according to the operational and security schedules of our hosting provider. Relevant records may be retained longer when needed to investigate a security incident or meet a legal obligation.
  • Google Analytics user and event-level data is retained for no longer than 14 months. Analytics cookies may remain for up to two years unless you withdraw consent or delete them earlier. Aggregated reports that no longer identify an individual may be retained longer.
  • Your consent preference is normally stored for up to 12 months, unless you change the choice or delete the relevant browser storage earlier.

When personal data is no longer required, it is deleted or anonymised unless continued retention is required by law.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • request access to your personal data;
  • have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
  • request deletion of your data;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • receive data you provided in a portable format;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time.

To exercise these rights, email info@shoeshiner.com. We may request information necessary to verify your identity.

You also have the right to submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration and disclosure. However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Children

This website is not intended to collect personal data from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal data through the website, please contact us so that we can assess and, where appropriate, delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our services, website technology or legal obligations change. The current version and its latest revision date will be published on this page.
